The committee will have a number of travel grants available for international IUPAC attendees (final number subject to support levels from sponsors). Applications will open with registration (mid 2009) and the following guidelines will apply.
Please click here to download a Travel Grant Application Form. Application forms must be completed and submitted by December 31st 2009.
Applicants must: 1. Submit an abstract for the conference 2. If a student nearing completion of studies, provide a signed letter of referral from your supervisor. 3. If a postdoctoral fellow, provide a letter of referral on your organisational letterhead. 4. Must have at least one refereed publication from a relevant research area published in a peer-reviewed journal. 5. Be able to obtain a visa for travel to Australia (priority will be given for those who already have a visa, if evidence of the visa is provided at the time of submission).
Other factors taken into account by the Award committee: 1. We will offer limited number of travel grants to the same institution - a second grant to the same institution may be offered if it must be matched by a full paying delegate. 2. Preference will be given to applicants that result in an increase the number of countries represented at IUPAC-ICRI. 3. Preference will be given to practising scientists from developing nations.
Acceptance process. Once an acceptance notice is received, candidates must: 1. Immediately register and book accommodation (though payment at the time is not essential). 2. Obtain a visa to visit Australia for the conference no later than four weeks before the conference or risk having their offer withdrawn and passed to a waitlist.
The organisers will: 1. Publish successful applicant names on our web page. 2. Distribute the travel grant as direct debit or cash on arrival at the conference and collection of your papers from the registration desk. The money can only be claimed in advance of the meeting if used to pay your registration and accommodation booked with the secretariat.
