From the airport it is between 20 and 30 minutes to the city centre. There are several transport options avaliable.
Local Transport Melbourne has an extensive Metlink road and transport system incorporating trams, trains, buses and river ferries. The Metlink ticketing system allows multiple journeys using the complete Metlink transport network. Melbourne's public transport system is includes trams, trains and bus transport all on the one ticket. The system is divided into two zones, zone one being the inner city area. The city and inner suburbs are best viewed by tram, a unique Melbourne way to travel. There is also a free City Circle Tram Loop and bus services encompassing access to Melbourne’s central tourist attractions, retail outlets, hotels and congress venues accessible to all delegates. Visas and Travel Documents Please note that all travellers to Australia must have a valid visa before boarding their plane. Travellers to Australia cannot apply for a visa on arrival. For many countries, the visa is paperless and added automatically to your air ticket. Check with your travel agent if uncertain or use the following website links. Note: New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders do not usually need to lodge a visa application prior to their departure unless they have health and/or character concerns. As visa processing times may vary, you are encouraged to apply for the appropriate visa 6-8 weeks before your departure to Australia. Your passport must be valid for the period of your intended stay in Australia. Most participants (including diplomatic passport holders) will require an eVisitor, Business (Short Validity) ETA or a Business (ShortStay) visa to come to Australia.
